Allen soooo...no phone call or Zoom,...just e-mail??...well at least you have some kind of communication established from them, BUT!! still not good. What insurance did / or are you using please...for educational purposes for me...thank you...oh by the way you were right about going down to St. John in October (last year) (and then caught COVID upon return home in DFW)...not much open, but we did get to go to Morgan's Mango and eat on our last night...and I'm retiring in October. Alan, you know what they say about hindsight. Knowing what you know now, would you stick with charters or would you still have owned your own boat?

My wife and I just returned from our annual seven day cruise around the BVI‘s. I’ve shared your videos with friends and family for several years. Passing Nanny, I turned and tipped my cap to you because I can imagine the pain and challenges you’ve gone through. Last year’s trip where we were able to share in the opening of Marina Cay with you was a memorable time. I will keep on following you and look forward to learning about the rail trip across Canada! I know I will see you again in the BVI’s! Until then…lots of 🏝️love to you🙏🏻

How do you think the bike would hold up to the salt water on a boat?

Great video, we've actually been looking at e-bikes online which leaves our head spinning. Our neighbors just rolled up yesterday on their new e-bikes so now we're experts! Thanks to your review lol! Lots of corn in Indiana that we also love to watch grow🌽 It doesn't hurt that we're farmers. We're in the Biz so to speak🧑‍🌾👩‍🌾 "Knee high by the 4th of July" has been the saying around here. However most years its close to tasseling.

So sorry to hear this. We have a 44 power cat and had an incident (while on the hard) and now entering litigation with the insurer. Sad that the beauty of our passion of boating, can be tainted by the greed of insurance companies. Best of luck with your future adventures. My wife and I have really enjoyed watching your videos.

Sad day for sure but you it seems like you did everything I would have done in the same circumstances. I've been boating for over 40 years and you took precautions but stuff just happens sometimes. The water is a powerful thing with a mind of it's own. Sorry for the loss but hey adventure can be difficult. God Bless!

Alan- just got back from a sailing vacation in St Martin. Your videos inspired me to get into boat chartering again after nearly a decade of not doing it and it was just a magical vacation. I’m looking forward to many more, so thank you for the content you put out via this channel- it has had a positive impact on many. I do have a question for you. I find myself now deathly afraid of mooring balls due to your experience, and I know of others who flat out refuse to use them even if they are available due to a mistrust of them (prior to what happened to you). I know many of the charter companies prefer that you use them because they don’t destroy turtle grass, and they recommend you dive them when possibly to inspect their condition. Do you have any advice regarding mooring balls and their use (sorry if that’s still too sore a subject- you don’t have to answer if so). I know in the BVI boaty ball does a better job of maintaining theirs. I’m just honestly not sure what I’d be looking for at a mooring ball to judge if it’s secure or not. Thanks again for all the wonderful and inspiring content you have produced!

Thank you for posting this. I am 74 and since my gym shut down during Covid I've been kicking myself for being lazy and worrying I might not be able to enjoy a good bit of my retirement. Lethargy is a bitch . I'm gonna buy that book. I don't want to waste another day of retirement not being able to do the things I love with the people I love. PS - Joan and I have chartered all over the Carribean. Maybe 25 times. Plus we did Scotland in 2016 and havent chartered since. Running into your channel got me excited about going back to the Bahamas or BVIs and I am trying to entice my friends to come for the fun. Please keep it going. God bless.

Man I feel bad it happened, but really the dramatic, sad music. It’s a boat it’s replaceable. Is it that what insurance is for? No one got hurt about probably fixable if not, insurance will pay for it

Good luck mate hope things work out for you.we need the insurance companies to be held accountable. It needs a government inquiry.

Excited for you to start your new chapter. One day I trust you’ll look back at this and be thankful for everything that transpired. The Wandering Hillbilly’s real message was about inspiration, fun, and the possibility of dreams coming true. And that message can’t be sunk or grounded or f’d over by insurance.

I recommend Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe. I have had relatively good experience with insurances but it was always standard auto, causality and liability … from what I hear boat insurance can be a different situation. You may also wish to contact your home state’s Insurance Commission or the insurance company’s home state Department of Insurance, they may be able to get some action. Good luck to you.
